Description

These Asian Steak Bites are tender, juicy, and packed with bold flavors inspired by Asian cuisine. Seared to perfection, the steak bites are tossed in a savory garlic-ginger soy glaze with a hint of sweetness and spice. Perfect as a main dish or appetizer, these steak bites pair beautifully with rice, noodles, or stir-fried vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs (680g) sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (if using cornstarch)
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steak:
    • Pat the steak cubes dry with paper towels.
    • Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Sear the Steak Bites:
    • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
    • Add steak cubes in a single layer (work in batches if necessary). Sear for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  • Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Stir in soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes.
    • If you want a thicker glaze, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl and stir it into the sauce. Cook for an additional minute until thickened.
  • Combine and Serve:
    • Return the steak bites to the skillet and toss them in the sauce until well coated.
    • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Steak Options: Sirloin works best, but ribeye or flank steak can also be used.
  • Sweetness: Adjust the honey or sugar for a sweeter glaze if desired.
  • Add Veggies: Stir-fry vegetables like broccoli, bell peppers, or snap peas can be added for a complete meal.
  • Spice Level: Add more red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha for extra heat.
