Description

Chocolate Cherry Dump Cake is a rich and indulgent dessert that combines the flavors of chocolate and cherry in an easy-to-make, no-fuss cake. With just a few simple ingredients, this dessert is perfect for any occasion and comes together in a snap. The cake bakes into a decadent, gooey treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix (any brand)
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional for extra chocolatey flavor)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional for added crunch)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the cherry pie filling evenly along the bottom.
  • Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not stir.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the dry cake mix, covering as much of the mix as possible.
  • If using, sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the top.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake has set.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • This dessert is super customizable! You can swap the cherry pie filling with other fruit fillings like blueberry or apple.
  • For a more indulgent treat, you can mix the chocolate chips directly into the cake mix.
  • Be sure to spread the cake mix evenly for an even bake. Some cake mix clumps may remain, which adds to the rustic texture.
  • If you prefer a gooey texture, serve this warm with ice cream!
