Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the cherry pie filling evenly along the bottom.
- Sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix evenly over the top of the cherry filling. Do not stir.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the dry cake mix, covering as much of the mix as possible.
- If using, sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts over the top.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake has set.
- Let the cake cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- This dessert is super customizable! You can swap the cherry pie filling with other fruit fillings like blueberry or apple.
- For a more indulgent treat, you can mix the chocolate chips directly into the cake mix.
- Be sure to spread the cake mix evenly for an even bake. Some cake mix clumps may remain, which adds to the rustic texture.
- If you prefer a gooey texture, serve this warm with ice cream!
