Description

Beef Stroganoff with Ground Beef is a quick and hearty take on the classic Beef Stroganoff. Made with ground beef instead of strips of beef, this comforting dish features a creamy sauce made with sour cream, broth, and seasonings. It’s perfect for busy nights when you crave a rich, flavorful meal without the wait!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Egg noodles (or rice) for serving

Instructions

  • Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Remove excess fat if necessary.
  • Sauté Onion and Garlic: Push the cooked beef to one side of the skillet. In the same pan, add butter and sauté the chopped onion for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Make the Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the meat and onion mixture, stirring to combine. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring, then bring to a simmer. Add the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Finish the Dish: Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream. Mix until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes, then adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Serve: Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
  • You can also use other pasta shapes, such as penne or fettuccine, if you prefer.
  • To make the dish extra creamy, you can add a little bit of heavy cream along with the sour cream.
  • For more flavor, you can incorporate mushrooms into the sauce.
