Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Egg noodles (or rice) for serving
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Remove excess fat if necessary.
- Sauté Onion and Garlic: Push the cooked beef to one side of the skillet. In the same pan, add butter and sauté the chopped onion for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Make the Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the meat and onion mixture, stirring to combine. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring, then bring to a simmer. Add the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
- Finish the Dish: Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream. Mix until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes, then adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve: Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice, and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a healthier version, use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
- You can also use other pasta shapes, such as penne or fettuccine, if you prefer.
- To make the dish extra creamy, you can add a little bit of heavy cream along with the sour cream.
- For more flavor, you can incorporate mushrooms into the sauce.
