- 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Optional for Serving:
- Tzatziki sauce
- Pita bread
- Greek salad
Instructions
- Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, feta cheese, parsley, red onion, dill, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Crack the egg into the mixture and mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form the Meatballs:
- Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. You should have 18-20 meatballs.
- Cook the Meatballs:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, turning to brown all sides, until the meatballs are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Serve:
- Serve the Greek turkey meatballs warm with tzatziki sauce on the side, in pita bread, or over a fresh Greek salad.
Notes
- Baking Option: For a hands-off method, bake the meatballs at 400°F (200°C) on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes or until cooked through.
- Make-Ahead Tip: The meatball mixture can be prepared and refrigerated up to a day in advance for easy cooking.
- Freezing Instructions: These meatballs freeze beautifully. After cooking, let them cool completely, then store in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
- Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make this recipe gluten-free.
