Description

These flavorful Greek Turkey Meatballs are a healthier twist on a Mediterranean classic. Made with lean turkey, fresh herbs, and tangy feta cheese, they’re perfect as a main dish, appetizer, or meal prep option. Pair them with tzatziki sauce, serve them over a Greek salad, or stuff them into pita bread for a complete and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Optional for Serving:

  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Pita bread
  • Greek salad

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, feta cheese, parsley, red onion, dill, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
    • Crack the egg into the mixture and mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Form the Meatballs:
    • Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. You should have 18-20 meatballs.
  • Cook the Meatballs:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the meatballs in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, turning to brown all sides, until the meatballs are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
  • Serve:
    • Serve the Greek turkey meatballs warm with tzatziki sauce on the side, in pita bread, or over a fresh Greek salad.

Notes

  • Baking Option: For a hands-off method, bake the meatballs at 400°F (200°C) on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-18 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: The meatball mixture can be prepared and refrigerated up to a day in advance for easy cooking.
  • Freezing Instructions: These meatballs freeze beautifully. After cooking, let them cool completely, then store in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make this recipe gluten-free.
