Description
Chocolate-covered strawberries are a timeless treat combining fresh, juicy strawberries with a luscious chocolate coating. Perfect for celebrations, gifting, or a romantic dessert, they’re simple to make yet incredibly elegant.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
- 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
- 4 oz white chocolate, chopped (optional, for drizzling)
- Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries:
- Ensure the strawberries are completely dry after washing, as any moisture can prevent the chocolate from adhering properly.
- Melt the Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet or dark chocolate in 20–30 second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a double boiler over simmering water.
- Dip the Strawberries:
- Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Add Toppings (Optional):
- While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your desired toppings over the strawberries or roll them in a topping of choice.
- Drizzle with White Chocolate (Optional):
- Melt the white chocolate in the same manner as the dark chocolate. Use a fork or piping bag to drizzle it over the chocolate-covered strawberries for a decorative touch.
- Set the Chocolate:
- Let the strawberries sit at room temperature until the chocolate hardens, or place them in the refrigerator for faster setting (about 15–20 minutes).
- Serve or Store:
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Notes
- Choose the Best Strawberries: Use ripe but firm strawberries for the best results.
- Chocolate Quality: High-quality chocolate will yield the best flavor and texture.
- No Stems? If the strawberries lack stems, use toothpicks or skewers to dip them.
- Avoid Water: Ensure all tools and surfaces are dry to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
