Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or your favorite type)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1/4 cup pasta water (reserved from boiling the pasta)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1/4 cup of pasta cooking water. Drain the pasta and set it aside.

- Combine Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Toss the pasta in the sauce, adding reserved pasta water to help coat the pasta evenly and create a silky texture.
- Finish the Dish:
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
