- 2–3 medium Russet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs), peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups green or Savoy cabbage, chopped
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions and cabbage until soft (about 8 minutes).
- In a greased baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, sautéed onions and cabbage, then shredded cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- In a bowl, mix heavy cream with salt and pepper; pour over layered ingredients until just covered.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil in the last 15 minutes for a golden crust.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
