Ingredients

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
  • 8 slices thick sourdough or French bread
  • 2 cups provolone cheese, shredded
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a skillet, heat over medium-high heat and brown the ribeye steak until fully cooked. Remove from skillet.
  2. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and bell peppers until tender and slightly caramelized.
  3. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the bread slices. Top with half of the steak mixture and half of the provolone cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Brush melted butter over the top layer of bread. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  5. Allow to cool slightly before slicing into squares. Serve warm.
