- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 16 oz full-fat cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- Whipped cream (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large bowl, mix red velvet cake mix with eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese until creamy; add sugar, sour cream, cocoa powder, and vanilla until blended.
- Pour half the red velvet batter into the pan. Spoon dollops of cream cheese mixture on top, then add remaining red velvet batter. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for about 60 minutes until slightly jiggly in the center. Cool in the oven with the door cracked for 30 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Refrigerate for at least four hours before serving. Top with whipped cream and chocolate chips if desired.
