  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer the sliced potatoes in the dish, sprinkling salt and pepper between layers.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. Pour some heavy cream over each potato layer; repeat until all ingredients are used.
  5. Top with remaining cream and shredded cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil in the last 15 minutes for a golden top.
