  • 3 black tea bags
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and mashed
  • 1/2 cup sugar or sweetener
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 lemon (juiced)

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of filtered water in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat and steep the tea bags for 5 minutes.
  2. While the tea steeps, rinse, pit, and mash the cherries in a bowl to release their juices.
  3. Remove the tea bags and stir in the mashed cherries and sugar until fully dissolved.
  4. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Let the mixture cool at room temperature for 30 minutes before refrigerating until cold (about 1 hour).
  6. Serve over ice, garnished with whole cherries or lemon slices if desired.
