Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian seasoned)
- 1 large egg
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
- 4 sturdy sub rolls
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 tbsp butter (melted)
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Mix gently until combined.
- Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes until browned (internal temperature reaches 160°F).
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add the baked meatballs and pour in marinara sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- For the garlic butter, mix melted butter with minced garlic and parsley. Cut sub rolls in half lengthwise and brush inside with garlic butter.
